A couple of weeks ago I mentioned some proposed changes for the group. After some discussions between myself and my co-founder, a staff survey; we've finalized our decisions on what exactly will be changing and what will not be changing.
Changes
Weekly Features will become Monthly. I personally don't have the time I did before to update the journals as frequently. I maybe get 3 hours during the day (if I am lucky) when my baby naps. And during that time I need to do other things; like dishes and laundry. The other staff did their best while I was gone, but they too have much going on that puts posting a weekly feature difficult. There are some alternatives that I am considering, but for now we are switching from weekly to monthly. The revival of features should be around July.
The Second Hope Folder will be closed and removed. Some members liked having their works placed into our favorites while others hated it. It created more work for our staff and most often submissions for this favorites gallery were overlooked in taking care of everything else.
Staff now have their own gallery. I decided to add a staff gallery as part of a perk for all their hard work so that their works could be distinguished from the member galleries. They still go through a voting process just like members, but just have a special place to call their own.
Remaining the Same
We will be keeping our required quality control and submission system. We don't have enough group staff members to split the work for the proposed change and the majority of our group staff members were against it. This may be brought up again at a later date, but right now we're not changing this.
We will still accept critique requests. This was also voted on by our group staff on whether or not it should be kept since there is a lot of work that goes into writing these critiques. There is usually always a backlog of people waiting for a reply, and there always will be. But our staff want to keep doing it for our members, so it's staying.
